It’s the Holidays, a busy time of year. You’re with family. You’re traveling. You’re shopping. Hopefully, you’re also relaxing. For ease, I’ve compiled the challenges into one place so you don’t get lost. These are to be completed over the next 5 days.

Day 13-17 of the Fitness Jump Off

1. Drink 70 oz of water per day.
2. Do at least of 2.5 hours of purposeful exercise over the course of the 5 days. Walking, cycling, weight lifting, running, skiing, etc. Dancing counts if its continuous and on the beat.
3. Eat one green meal per day. Reacquaint yourself with the rules, please. (No restricted foods an hour before or after the meal.)
4. Record indulgences. I’m not asking you to avoid the sweets, alcohol, and rich foods that come with the holidays. I’m asking you to be aware of the quantity you’re consuming. Log all of your indulgences. For example, “two cookies, a scoop of ice cream, and way too many crackers and cheese.” This log is for your personal record. Indulge with your eyes open.

At your convenience, please respond to this post to let me know how you’re doing. Happy Holidays!

@Danielle. You are doing so well!

So I was a bit behind on this challenge so I will extend it a few days yo catch up. I normally drink a lot of water, but did end up having to chug a few glasses before bed on Christmas Day. As for the green meals… I’ve been alternating either breakfast or midday salads or that part of the challenge. Yes…I enjoy salad for breakfast. The cardio has been going well. I’ve either run or rowed every day of the challenge and all the runs have been at least an hour. I will also say that I’ve been recording my daily meals. That is all!

So I’m a day late, but better late than never, right? 🙂 So I admittedly did pretty bad with #3. I’m good with getting in fruits and veggies but I need to lay off the forbidden foods! Exercise has been a little bit of a challenge because of my foot injury, but I was able to get most of it in. Thanks for the great class on Sunday to help with that, Angel! I weigh myself once a week and while .8 pounds down isn’t great, it was the holidays so I’m taking it. Looking forward to what the rest of the challenge brings.

Made it through the last 5 days ok for the most part. Ran outside in Saturday and works inside on Sunday. Definitely overdid it on the cheese on the 24th but I had at least one green meal all days but the 24th and while I indulged in some sweets the clementines have really helped curb the sugar craving. I find that if I don’t start with the sugar at any point during the day (jam, cookie) then I don’t want it as much later either. Cheese on the other hand is very hard to escape and not give into the temptation to dress up a salad with it etc. I’m lucky we only celebrated the holiday locally with dinner at parents and in-laws and it wasn’t an all day food fest so my house remains a safe place with lots of greens. I can definitely yampa hide with those away from their homes and surrounded by people and special treats all day.

Being out of town on vacation has been really hard. I never keep anything not-green in my house, and am currently staying in my parents’ house which is FULL of temptation, or going out to eat with people which makes avoiding bread hard (and I don’t even like it that much!). I need to do better with recording as I eat, because doing it at the end of the day doesn’t allow me to be accurate. So, struggling with #3 and #4 (although the challenge has definitely helped me do better, even if I’m not reaching the goals), and doing fine with #1 and #2 (but those aren’t difficult for me). I need to DO BETTAH!!!!!!!

I’m with FVR on extending the challenge to make up for yesterday!

So grateful for this space, though, thanks for motivating me you guys!

Angel · 12/26/2012 at 8:28 pm

@FVR. Full disclosure: I had a ton of cookies in the last two days. I counted every one but will not reveal the number here. will not!

FVR · 12/26/2012 at 8:17 pm

Also recording my sweet intake is really disturbing.

FVR · 12/26/2012 at 8:16 pm

Haha, Ween, #1 is my easiest. I actually normally drink more than 70 oz, which may be why I use the bathroom all the time? TMI???? Anyway, Christmas was a total FAIL but I’m ok with that. Will add one day to challenge to make up for Christmas disaster!

Ween · 12/26/2012 at 2:02 pm

Why is #1 so hard for me?!
