As we embark on the 3 day nutrition challenge, read these important notes:

1. Daily Report. I want to hear from you each day of the challenge. Let me know how the day is going and any tips or strategies you have for the group. This would be a great opportunity to ask questions or get emotional support. Please reply to the ‘eat your salad, no dessert’ post, not this one.

2. Workouts. While there will be no additional nutrition assignments this week, I will be posting workout assignments. These are extra credit. If you’ve hit a fitness plateau, it would be a good idea to do these workouts. They will be less than 10 minutes. Short and sweet. And hard. Check back daily.

3. Measure. Use a measuring cup for your vegetables – at least for the first day. Unless you’re a chef, your ability to accurately eyeball an amount is inaccurate. Are you sure it’s 2 cups?

4. Green Smoothie Recipes. Options here.

5. Don’t Panic. Get out of your head. Take it one meal at a time. Acknowledge that this is good for you.

@SLOMO & FVR. I asked if anyone had questions. Consuming no more than 350 calories of sweets every day isn’t a challenge. That’s what ya’ll do anyway. (shaking my head).

Thanks, FVR, right back at you!!!! I see you gettin it with this challenge, and if it makes you feel better I had to go back and look 3 times to make sure that it was 350 calories over the course of 3 days or each day (because I was really hoping it was what you understood). Keep up the good work – we got this, mama!

Day 1 – Late in the afternoon yesterday I was craving sweets but resisted. Again, last night, the chocolate called my name but I didn’t give in. I’m absolutely in for no sweets challenge and am working on the “green one.” I had already done my grocery shopping for the week when the challenge was posted so it’s a bit tricky but I’m trying it too.

@Slomo. 1. Thanks for confessing. 2. I can’t take one bite of anything. 3. Applause for knowing yourself, knowing that your problem isn’t too little exercise, it’s too much food. Very important distinction. Knowing this will help you. 4. After the challenge, I’d like you to send me the recipe to those cookies.

@Stephen. Ah, you’re back. Such a good student. Welcome home.

Angel, I’m back! I’ve been on track and very busy since my personal trainer certification. But the student can’t stray too far from the teacher…lol
So I will be working on the green smoothies and will be measuring my veggies and incorporating the green smoothies. Thanks for sharing your passion!

I have a horrifying confession to make!!!! The “healthy” cookies defeated me this morning before I could take them to work!!!!! I woke up to work out and was STARVING, and totally could have just eaten a banana. Instead, like a foolio, I decided I’d just eat a little piece of one of the cookies and count that as my sweet calories for the week, knowing was giving them away and would have no other options, at least at home. Well, there was a tremendous physiological response that occurred with that little bite, and all of a sudden it turned into various bites that definitely add up to more than 350 calories. So, I will be starting the challenge tomorrow. The good news is I felt SOOOO guilty for doing it, especially after committing to start the challenge today, that there is NO WAY I will mess up again. It’s too embarassing. It doesn’t make up for it (since my main behavior changes have to do with food), but I worked out hard after the cookie fiasco and am about to workout with my co-workers again this afternoon. Had a super green lunch of kale, tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and grilled chicken, and a shake with pienapple, celery, parsley and water. The nutrition challenge is ON for me tomorrow, I promise!
