As someone with a vicious sweet tooth, vicious I tell you, lemon water is my saving grace. It’s the anti-sugar. I drink it when I’m craving sweets but don’t want to eat them. Or, when I’ve eaten sweets and don’t want to eat more. (Sources say I can consume a bazillion grams of sugar in one sitting.)
But, lemon water isn’t just for sugar junkies.
Many people start their day with this drink – warm water with fresh squeezed lemon. Benefits include: moving the bowels, detoxifying, balancing ph, improving mood, and curbing the appetite. Some say it burns fat. I don’t know about that. But if it stops you from eating more than you should, there will be less fat.
If you’re not doing this ritual, you should. Especially my sugar friends. Use it to prevent you from jumping in the deep end or as a rope to get you out.
A couple of things:
1. Some say lemon degrades tooth enamel. If you’re worried, use a straw.
2. The more you use, the greater the effect. It might take a full lemon to exorcise the demons.
3. If you don’t have lemon, lime is fine.
4. Bazillion isn’t an actual number.
