The first Fat-Free for Christmas challenge is over. How did you do? Please respond letting me know whether or not you met your goal. If you met your goal, let me know how you felt, what surprised you, and how you can step it up in the future. If you did not meet your goal, don’t dwell on it. Respond letting me know what you did well, what you learned, and how you will improve on the next challenge.

You ready to keep going? How does your body feel today?

(Challenge #2 will be up in a few hours. In the meantime, you should probably eat a salad for lunch.)

I didn’t get all my running in but I did get all of the push ups done!

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:32 am

@Crystal. You just made my day.

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:31 am

@Angie, Being honest with yourself will make more difference than anything else. This is good for you. It will show you where you need to work and you will get better. I know it!

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:31 am

@tommy, Yes, I would’ve known but thanks for letting the blog world know. I appreciate you.

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:30 am

@Dena. Who cares about the scale!?!? Roomier clothes, confidence, feeling like a princess, now that’s what matters. You know I am proud of you. You know this!

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:26 am

@Nancy, You can have the nuts/grains/bread at the other meals! We will work on the sweets soon

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:23 am

@victoria. I forgive you.

Angel · 12/13/2011 at 11:19 am

@hollywood. Again, stop with the witty, funny remarks.

Nancy · 12/13/2011 at 10:49 am

I completed the pushups and discovered how easy it is to sneak them in at random times during the day. I also completed the salad challenge, but missed the nuts/grains/bread I usually eat with them. Also had trouble resisting holiday sweets at work. Looking forward to week 2! Thanks, Angel!!!

Hollywood · 12/13/2011 at 10:40 am

Thanks Angel face! You care about the weak and feeble. I completed 2.5 of 4. Lunges, push-ups and 3 salads. I feel invigorated to keep the party goin’. I noticed that by counting how many lunges and push-ups I’ve done, I have less time to think about food.

Victoria · 12/12/2011 at 10:06 pm

I didn’t complete the first challenge. I’m not going to make excuses. I promise to do better with the next challenge.

Shannon · 12/12/2011 at 9:28 pm

Fell just short of my pushup/lunge goal, but was very surprised that it wasn’t as brutal as expected. After the initial soreness, I felt really good, which was a bit of a change. Looking forward to what’s next.

Jennifer · 12/12/2011 at 6:32 pm

Completed 10 miles and the 200 pushups. Fell short on the salads – which I thought would be the easiest – and only did about five. Felt really good on the days I did the salads. Was a little sore from the pushups. Dropped 3.5 lbs!

Ween · 12/12/2011 at 5:40 pm

Angel! I completed the 10 miles, the 200 pushups and the 300 lunges but did not meet the salad requirement…I was surprised at how difficult it was for me, I do eat a ton of salad but it was the bread with the salad, etc that I struggled with!

Aisha · 12/12/2011 at 5:10 pm

Almost met the goal! I did the 8 salads but only 180 pushups. I planned to the last twenty after Real Housewives of Atlanta but I went to sleep and it was after midnight, but I did them anyway. Can’t wait for the next challenge.

Jillian · 12/12/2011 at 4:58 pm

Met the goals… except the running. I hate running. Always found excuses to keep myself off the treadmill. Too much snow to run outside. 🙁
Other than that I felt great. Sore from all the pushups, it feels great to be pushing my body again. It’s amazing what we’re capable of when we try.

Quynn · 12/12/2011 at 4:30 pm

I did great and I met my goals. finished everything on saturday and got to rest on sunday. My body feels great and the entire office is looking forward to the next challenge

Stacy · 12/12/2011 at 4:29 pm

I completed 12 miles of course broken up lol
Ate 8 salads. Did 200 pushup (an extra 100) & 300 lunges per leg. I feell great and starting to look it too! ? excited about part 2. Thx for taking time out of ur schedule to help me. I really appreciate it.

Alex · 12/12/2011 at 4:09 pm

dude..where do you get these pics from?

Dena · 12/12/2011 at 3:44 pm

Angel, my little Angel…you are AWESOME for setting this challenge up for us. I did the 10 miles…WOOP, WOOP and I feel like a warrior princess, but I usually feel like that, only not the princess part, i’m not that girlie, but for some reason, i feel that way now;-) I ate my 8 salads….AMAZING, I haven’t felt that great about eating salads in a long time. It’s been forever since I’ve had the yummy, healthy full feeling and I LOVED it! I will continue to eat more salads, shooting for at least one every day. Thank you!! I did 200 pushups, happy to say, my arms and chest, shoulder blades are sore, supa sore and I can no longer use my arms/upper body! Every inch of movement is a little stiff and painful, but I good pain. I did NOT complete the lunges, sadly, I knew that would happen. I do not like lunges, so I think my dislike for them did not motivate me to do it. I only managed to get 65 done….FAIL. But, I will continue to do them, even though the 1st challenge is over. I will, for my own egotistical reasons, get 300 of those sucka’s done. Overall, i feel FANTASTIC, better than a warrior princess, and i’m not jumping on the scale, but my clothes feel better, roomier. I love this feeling of accomplishment, actually doing it, and enjoying it! You are AWESOME! Thanks so much for inspiring us and putting it out there for us to do it! I’m ready for the next one!! LOVUE!!!

jane@seejanesweat · 12/12/2011 at 3:15 pm

Hey Angel. I completed the challenge. 8 salads, 12.5 miles & 300 lunges each leg. The salads were the most difficult part of the challenge which suprised me because I typically eat clean. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables but not many salads unless I go out and I usually eat at home. I feel great. I love challenges. You rock. Thanks so much.

Angie · 12/12/2011 at 2:48 pm

Challenges complete, but to be 100% honest I probably could have stood to make smarter decisions on the nutrition part. While I did manage to eat 8 salads per the guidelines, I feel like I probably splurged a little too much on my other meals. While 8 clean salads is a good start, I think I should have made some exercised a little more restraint at social gatherings. As you mentioned, there are approximately 28 meals in a week, so being healthy 8 out of 28 times is just a drop in the bucket. For the next phase of the challenge, I’d like to focus on stronger dietary discipline.

On the plus side, I can see why the push up is seen as one of the best exercises you can do. My arms and core feel much more solid, and my legs are definitely feeling those lunges! Thanks for continuing to be an inspiration, I will try harder for the next set of challenges to be the best me I can be.

Tommy Avent · 12/12/2011 at 2:03 pm

I have to admit that I did not finish the 1st challenge(I don’t know how, but I’m sure you would find out if I didn’t fess up). I would give some lame excuse about not being able to start the challenge until Thursday but I also know that would get me a smackdown. So, I’ll just fall on my sword and do better with #2.
#1 results – 200 push-ups, 100 lunges, 4 miles, 5 salads

Danielle · 12/12/2011 at 1:52 pm

Yeeeeah so I didn’t get all my running done BUT I did everything else and feel great about that part! My arms hate me but thery’ll get over it. I’m still gonna try and finish my running today though just because I’m not a runner and it’ll be good for me.

Ready for #2!!

Mama of 4 · 12/12/2011 at 1:47 pm

Love the challenges, successfully completed 3/4. Feeling great and wanting more:)

Crystal · 12/12/2011 at 1:41 pm

My mother was in town last week *and* I had a terrible cold (bad enough that I came home early Wednesday and took off work on Thursday), so I pushed all of my challenges to the weekend. I finished two of the three challenges I selected–lunges and pushups. I didn’t feel up for the 10 miles, but I may add it to your Week #2 challenge. Also, I bought some great salad ingredients, and I just ate a delicious mango-chicken-spring mix salad for lunch. Count me in for next week!

Polly · 12/12/2011 at 1:24 pm

All four goals met! Including a 4.25 mi run, which is the most I’ve ever run at once. Now there’s something hard under my skin between my knee and my hip… Oh, that’s what muscles are supposed to feel like…

Angel · 12/12/2011 at 12:40 pm

@Shae. This is good news. The fact that you feel great is the best part. You better eat your salad, go girl. 🙂

Shae · 12/12/2011 at 12:38 pm

Week one has been great. Very surprising to see such a change with just those few tasks! I completed my salad challenge, I completed the mileage and I completed the push ups! The lunges got me, I was able to get half way through (150). I feel great, I posted earlier in the week about not checking the scale because I seem to never lose pounds, but just being curious I stepped on the scale this morning, and to my surprise I have dropped 4 pounds!! That’s great for me!! I am so pumped about whatever is next to come!!!!!! And I am having a salad for lunch! Lol

Angel · 12/12/2011 at 12:18 pm

@badiyah, Go, Team SBF – whatever that means..

Angel · 12/12/2011 at 12:18 pm

@Badiyahj, I will hurry when you start paying me.

badiyahj · 12/12/2011 at 12:10 pm

sidenote: I feel some type of way about the wet playing elephant. Hurry with the new challenge!

badiyahj · 12/12/2011 at 12:05 pm

Glad to say that the team and I met our goals. Pushup, lunges, salad for extra credit. We threw some planks in there too for rest. I even did a few extra sets over the weekend. It was a bit grueling since we spreaded the exercise out over three days. But we were up for the challenge. My back between my shoulder blades is still burning from the pushups, hurts so good. Looking forward to the next challenge. Oh and I see my stomach getting firm already. Team SBF!!!
