This is a year of big change. In February, I retired from personal training. I still work as a fitness consultant but I’ve stopped providing 1-1 weekly personal training sessions. It was a hard decision but it was the right move. There was no way I could impact more people (read: thousands) working in the capacity that I was.
In honor of my “retirement”, the clients seen above took me out to dinner. Two of them have been with me for more than six years. The other two have been with me for 2 and 5 years. All of my clients were sad but supportive of my decision. They expressed their gratitude in various ways. (Some of them expressed gratitude in the form of denial.) I received wonderful gifts, notes, and well wishes. One of my clients made me fancy swirl cookies. And yes, I ate them! Undoubtedly, I felt loved.
I am blessed to have trained such incredible people. The hardest part about leaving my job was not leaving my job. It was leaving them. Such amazing, hardworking, kind, loyal, and talented people! My heart still swells. Sigh. In the words of Sister Sledge, “We Are Family”. And so, I fly away. On the wings of love. I would not be who I am without them.
