How to make a Protein Smoothie Taste Like Heaven

4558291580_ae3ea852eb

I like things that taste good. I also like riding fast on my bicycle. With that in mind, I’ve worked hard to make nutritious things taste like junk food–so that I can indulge without growing another chin. Today’s recipe is a chocolate banana smoothie that tastes just like a McDonald’s fatty milkshake. Minus the fat and cancer causing agents. It’s less than 250 calories. Enjoy!

Chocolate Banana Smoothie Recipe

4 cubes of ice
1/2 to 1 1/2 cups of water (based on your desired thickness)
1 banana
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
1 tbsp of Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa powder

Mix ingredients in a blender. Pour into a wine glass (because you’re sophisticated) and enjoy!

Watch this video for important info regarding sugar and meal timing for this smoothie.

Wait! There’s no sugar…I don’t understand? How can it be a delicious smoothie without at least a cup of sugar. I have all of these ingredients, minus the ice. I want to try but will first watch video to demystify the absence of sugar in the recipe. If that video says some crazy talk about not “needing” sugar, I’m kicking your butt (well, in my dreams!)

Yummy! Now, I know what to do with my too-ripe bananas! This can probably save a little $ too, compared to those expensive protein shakes I buy at Whole Foods. Where can I get vanilla whey protein powder though?

This was rico, gracias. I did some extra push-ups and star jumps so I could add a lil coconut milk too. This was a rico decision.

@slomo; You deserved the coconut milk because of the star jumps. And for that reason only.

@christina, you will save a ton of money going this route. bananas are cheap! and you don’t need a lot of cocoa powder to make an impact. thus, you don’t have to buy if often. I like Whole Foods’ 365 brand of protein powder. But there are a plethora of brands to choose from. Select the one that sits in your stomach best and saves you the most money.

@Princess Lana, now, I would not set you up for failure! The sugar is in the banana and thats all you need because the cocoa powder adds a rich chocolate flavor without all the bad stuff. Drink it!
