It’s time for the Monthly Music Roundup. Here’s the music I recommend for workouts, background vibes, and creative inspiration. I hope you find something you like.
Workout Songs to Motivate You
If these songs don’t make you want to do burpees, they’ll definitely make you want to dance. These songs also work great if you teaching spinning / indoor cycling.
Sean Paul – Get Busy (Silvio Luz & Santarossa 2017 Bootleg)
P-Square – Personally
Sofia Karlberg – Crazy In Love (Aidan Dao Deep Mix)
Childish Gambino – Bonfire
Black Knight – My Beat Bang
Calvin Harris & Disciples – How Deep Is Your Love (Chris Lake Remix)
Lecrae – Say I Won’t
Mike Metro & Stahsi – In The Dark (Odd Mob Remix)
Sean Simmonds – Fireproof
Alt-A – Because I Need You (Fred Boutique Remix)
Ed Sheeran – Shape of You (Major Lazer Remix)
Oliver Heldens – Gecko Overdrive
Skala – Shake Body
Full Albums to Inspire You
These are albums I can listen to without skipping a song. I play them when I’m cleaning, meal prepping, day dreaming, on a long train ride, or doing editing work. Most of these aren’t new, the Fukui album is from 1975, but I hope you find something new.
Soul Power by Curtis Harding = soul
Food by Kelis = soul/pop
The Ice Berg by Oddisee = hip hop (the good kind)
Scenery by Ryo Fukui = jazzy
Malibu by Anderson.Paak = funky
Nasty Gal by Betty Davis = soul/rock/perfection
Workout Playlists to Sustain You
I’ve created a soundcloud playlist that includes workout songs from many genres, such as hip hop, dancehall, gospel, rock, edm, afrobeats, and 80s music. You may have to skip around to find something you like because I couldn’t order the tracks by genre. So if you hear a trap song, for example, and get scared, don’t leave. Keep skipping tracks. I promise you’ll find what you need. Enjoy!
